07-09-2015 - New Trustees and Chairman Named to Airport Board

(Reno, NV) – The Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority Board has a new look as three new board members and a new Chairman took their seats July 9th.

Andy Wirth, appointed by the Reno-Sparks Convention and Visitor’s Authority (RSCVA), was named Chairman of the nine member board and Lisa Gianoli, Jenifer Rose, and Jessica Sferrazza were sworn in as new members.

“New people will bring new ideas that can help take our airport to a higher level,” Chair Wirth said. “We are adding very experienced and talented people who are dedicated to enhancing travel to and from our region.”

Andy Wirth, the CEO of Squaw Valley Holdings, was appointed by the RSCVA Board in 2013. He has extensive experience in international resort management and has worked with various airlines to develop more flights for resorts in Utah, Colorado and Canada.  During his time on the Board, he has served as a liaison between Lake Tahoe and the Reno-Sparks region, while representing an airport that is the Gateway to Lake Tahoe.

“I am honored to represent the RSCVA and to serve as Chairman of an entity that is vital to our regional economy,” said Wirth. “Enhancing air service is vital to the ski industry, gaming and business community, and I am looking forward to working with a great staff and board to attract more flights to our region.”

Lisa Gianoli, owns a government relations consulting firm and represents local government on legislative issues. Gianoli served for more than a decade as a Financial Analyst and Budget Manager for Washoe County, and during that time, participated in multiple committees while representing the County on fiscal issues at the Nevada Legislature.  She was appointed by the Washoe County Commission.

“Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority is a vital part of our region,” Gianoli said. “I am happy to be a part of the Board that guides this economic engine and feel that my expertise in finance and business will be a benefit to this team.”

Jenifer Rose is the CEO of It’s My Community Store, a business to business office supply company that provides customers a way to give back to local charities. In addition, Ms. Rose is the host of Plush Life, a local television show featuring regional products and events. As an entrepreneur for more than 15 years, Rose is committed to promoting northern Nevada and looking forward to contributing to the airport board. Ms. Rose is a member of the Organizational Effectiveness Committee for Washoe County. Rose was appointed by the City of Reno.

“I’m looking forward to being on the Board to help serve our community and region,” Rose said. “There are many exciting things going on at the airport and I want to help continue that positive momentum.”

Jessica Sferrazza, is the founder of a state-wide company, JESSCONVLLC, where she serves as a consultant to various local businesses. Sferrazza was appointed by the City of Reno.  From 2000 to 2012, Ms. Sferrazza served the community as a City of Reno Councilwoman, and is a past City Council liaison to the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority. During Sferrazza’s 12-year tenure on the City Council, she worked to revitalize downtown, helped to consolidate the regional animal shelter and initiated a neighborhood plan for the Midtown District.

“I want to thank the Reno City Council for the trust they placed in me,” said Jessica Sferrazza. “My past experience with the Council will benefit me in my service on the Airport Board. I am looking forward to helping the airport prepare for a dynamic and ever-changing northern Nevada environment.”

In addition, the Reno-Tahoe Airport Board of Trustees includes Adam Mayberry, who was reappointed to a second term by the City of Sparks; and William “Bill” Eck who was appointed by the City of Sparks in 2009.

New Chair Andy Wirth led the Board Members in today’s meeting. “I am thrilled to welcome the new trustees” said Wirth, “and appreciate the increased diversity of the make-up of the board.”

The Board named new officers for the fiscal year in today’s meeting:

Board Chairman:  Andy Wirth

Vice Chairman:  Rick Murdock

Secretary:  Nat Carasali

Treasurer:  Jerry Hall

Trustees are appointed to the Board by the City of Reno, City of Sparks, Washoe County and the Reno-Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority. Reno-Tahoe International is the 66th busiest commercial airport in the United States and does not operate on local tax dollars.
