RENO, Nev. (Dec. 19, 2024) – The Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO) is preparing for a busy winter travel season. With a projected 8% increase in flights and a 3% boost in available seats compared to last year, travelers are encouraged to make their spirits bright by planning ahead.

The busiest travel days are anticipated to be Dec. 22, 23, 27 and 29. To keep holiday cheer high and stress low, the airport reminds passengers to allow extra time for parking and navigating the terminal during peak times.

Tinsel-Tough Travel Tips

  • Allow Extra Time: Parking will be in high demand. Overflow parking may add time to your trip, so plan ahead.
  • Check Parking Availability: Visit the airport’s website to check real-time parking updates before heading out.
  • Leave Gifts Unwrapped: TSA may need to inspect those perfectly wrapped gifts, so pack them unwrapped or bring wrapping supplies to finish up at your destination.
  • Consider a Ride: Skip parking altogether by arranging a ride with a friend or rideshare service.
  • Drop & Go: Save time by dropping off passengers with luggage curbside before parking in overflow lots.
  • Wait & Win Giveaway: Picking up passengers? Park in the Free Waiting Lot, just 4 minutes from the terminal, scan the QR code on the signage and enter for a chance to win flights while reducing curbside congestion.

Festive Flights

This holiday season brings returning and new nonstop routes:

  • Alaska Airlines is offering seasonal service to San Diego (SAN) through Apr. 21.
  • JetBlue has resumed its New York (JFK) seasonal route through Jan. 6, with additional flights from Feb. 13 to Mar. 29.
  • Delta Air Lines has shifted its Atlanta (ATL) departure time to Noon through Mar. 8, for greater convenience.
  • United Airlines has brought back its seasonal Houston (IAH) service through Jan. 6 and will offer some additional flights in February and March.
  • Southwest Airlines has reinstated its Dallas Love Field (DAL) seasonal service through Jan. 5, with some additional flights in March.
