Airport Loop Road Construction Now Complete

RNO is excited to announce the completion of the second major project under the MoreRNO Infrastructure Program—the airport Loop Road. With both the Ticketing Hall and now the Loop Road finished, these two highly visible projects for passengers are officially behind us.

This revamped 1,800 linear foot roadway, made from 5,500 tons of smooth asphalt, was built with sustainability in mind. Teams crushed and recycled 20,000 cubic feet of concrete to use as the road’s base and installed LED lighting for the canopies, which also feature energy-efficient snow melt systems.

Safety and accessibility were top priorities throughout the project. Here’s what was improved:

  • ADA-compliant ramps
  • Flush curbs
  • Truncated domes for passengers with limited mobility
  • 74 protective bollards
  • Wider sidewalks for easier navigation
  • Reduced number of crosswalks to improve traffic flow and increased elevation on crosswalks to slow vehicle speeds

Take a tour of the new features in detail here.

This project was also completed on budget with zero lost time to injury, highlighting the dedication of our teams and reflects the airport’s ongoing commitment to provide a safer, more accessible and efficient travel experience for all passengers.

It’s never too early to start planning your holiday travel. If you’re looking to save money on flights for holidays like Thanksgiving, Christmas or Hanukkah, now is the time to act.

According to Google’s 2024 travel trends, the cheapest airfare for U.S. trips is typically found 38 days before departure, with the best window for booking falling between 21 and 52 days ahead of time. Don’t wait until the last minute if you want to secure the best deals on your flights. Read more about Google’s holiday travel insights here.

Parking Tips This Season

As the holiday season approaches, parking demand at RNO is expected to surge. Here are a few tips to make your airport experience smoother:

  • The busy travel season means the airport’s parking lots might reach capacity. Check parking availability on the airport’s website before making the choice to park: www.renoairport.com
  • Allow extra time to find a space, especially in overflow lots.
  • The drop-off and pick-up zones are better than ever – consider hitching a ride from a friend and avoid the parking hassle.
  • Traveling with a group? Drop the family curbside with your bags, then park in overflow for a stress-free experience.

Fast Track Your Travel

TSA is aiming to make air travel faster and more convenient for everyone by pushing for significant growth in its PreCheck membership. TSA PreCheck helps you skip long lines and move quickly through security and with the new advanced CT scanners, the process is now faster than ever. TSA Administrator David Pekoske assures travelers that these high-tech machines are more efficient than many realize.
