We Remember Your Sacrifices, You are Not Forgotten: The Story and Art of Stewart Indian School
The depARTures Gallery is honored to welcome and share space with the Stewart Indian School Cultural Center and Museum, based in Carson City. The exhibit highlights the school’s history and features photographs, objects, and art from the time the school was active. The exhibit also shows contemporary art from the Great Basin Native Artists (GBNA), a collective of Indigenous artists living in/or originally from the Great Basin areas of Nevada, California, Southern Oregon, Southern Idaho, and Utah. The Stewart Indian School Cultural Center and Museum collaborated with the Nevada State Museum, Nevada Indian Commission, Great Basin Native Artists Collective, and Visit Carson City to bring this story to our travelers.
