As the airport expands through the MoreRNO Infrastructure Program, there will be many opportunities to integrate public art into new spaces and construction, with solicitations opening in early 2025.

Repeated Refrains
“Repeated Refrains” is the first public art commission in the airport, spanning the 450-foot soffit in the new Ticketing Hall. The creation of this Reno-Tahoe inspired piece comes from the artistic vision of nationally acclaimed artist Dixie Friend Gay, who shares, “Repeated Refrains celebrates Reno’s diverse native environment. It’s an immersive invitation to delve into the natural beauty of the Reno area.”

Historic Flag Display
The historic display in baggage claim commemorates the 1960 Winter Olympics. The flags represent the participating nations of the VIII Olympic Winter Games held at the prestigious Olympic Valley.

Giant Slalom
The “Giant Slalom” bronze sculpture, inspired by the Reno-Tahoe region, welcomes millions of travelers to RNO each year. Dedicated to the airport on February 29, 1996, it became the centerpiece of the main terminal in November 2012. The sculpture by Douglas Van Howd was created as a scholarship project for the University of Nevada, Reno, Ski Teams.

Fly With Us Mural
The “Fly With Us” mural is an interactive social media initiative designed to connect passengers and the community through art and Nevada-inspired symbols. Travelers are encouraged to stand in front of the mural, “take flight,” and capture the moment with a photo to share on social media.
