Truckee Meadows Community College: Breathe 2023
Entitled Breathe, this group exhibition from Truckee Meadows Community College displays ceramics, paintings, and photographs focusing on intergenerational equity and ecological stewardship of the environment, economy, and culture. Candace Garlock (artist, TMCC Professor of Ceramics, former Galleries Curator, and former Professor of Printmaking and Foundations in Art) selected works by students and faculty members that represent the 2022-2023 TMCC Faculty for Radical Empowerment and Enlightenment (FREE) community theme, “Year of Sustainability”. In this context, sustainability also reaches to include the perpetuation of cultures and social relationships; how we share our knowledge and history with those that will come after us and replace us. FREE is TMCC’s longest-running interdisciplinary theme-based learning community which has operated continuously since its founding in 2003.
