Expecting More Than 16,000 Passengers During Spring Break Peak Travel Days

RENO, Nev. (Mar. 11, 2025) – Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO) is gearing up for a bustling spring break travel period, with higher-than-usual passenger volumes and parking at full capacity expected. RNO is anticipating 16,000 passengers passing through the airport on peak travel days. The busiest days expected to be Mar. 14, 21, 24 and 28.

With parking in high demand, the airport encourages travelers to plan ahead and consider new parking solutions, including a rideshare voucher program.

Plan Ahead for a Smooth Travel Experience

RNO urges all passengers to plan ahead and stay informed. Check the real-time parking tool on the airport website to stay current on parking availability and consider alternative options like ridesharing for added convenience.

Rideshare Voucher Program

For locals who prefer to skip the parking experience entirely, RNO is offering more than 2,000 $5 rideshare vouchers for spring break travelers. Beginning Mar. 13, local passengers can use a promo code when booking a ride in-app with Uber or Lyft to receive the discount. Unique discount codes are available on https://www.renoairport.com/parking-transportation/

The rideshare vouchers are available for home-to-airport and airport-to-home travel only, and there are limited redemptions, so travelers are encouraged to act fast and even pre-book your ride. The promotion runs from Mar. 13 – 30, or until all vouchers are redeemed.

Overflow Parking in Effect

As the parking garage and surface lots reach capacity, overflow options will open, which may require extra time to navigate to available parking lots. Travelers are advised to arrive two hours before their scheduled flight to ensure a smooth start to their trip. Overflow parking locations may vary based on demand, with signage and staff directing passengers to the nearest available lot.

For off-site overflow lots, shuttle service will be provided at select times. Travelers arriving at on-site overflow lots may need to be prepared for a short, 10-minute walk to the terminal.

Reserve Your Parking Spot – Coming Soon

In response to increasing demand, RNO will be testing a new parking reservation system in April, allowing passengers to guarantee their parking spot ahead of time. Available for a limited number of spaces on the second floor and roof of the garage, the reservation system ensures a general parking space will be open. Passengers may still need extra time to find an available space.
