Transforming Ground Transportation
The new Ground Transportation Center (GTC) at Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO) is set to enhance the passenger experience by centralizing rental cars, taxis, shuttles, and rideshare services into one state-of-the-art, four-story facility. As part of a $299 million public-private partnership with Conrac Solutions, the project is designed to streamline operations and improve safety and convenience for millions of travelers. Scheduled for completion in 2028, the GTC will accommodate future growth in ground transportation services at RNO, making it a key component of the airport’s MoreRNO Infrastructure Program.
-
Expanded Rental Car Operations
With nearly three times the space of the current rental car area, the GTC will improve operations by offering more services and options. The facility will feature several car washes, maintenance bays, and fueling stations, allowing rental vehicles to be serviced and ready for use more quickly, maintaining a steady supply of cars for passengers.
-
Convenient Pedestrian Access
Located near the terminal, the building offers easy access via a covered walkway. Consolidating all services in one location helps passengers avoid navigating multiple areas of the airport, making their experience faster and more efficient. This setup also accommodates travelers with varying mobility needs by keeping all services as close as possible to the terminal.
-
Streamlined Pick-Up Services
The facility will house taxis, shuttles, rideshares, and car-sharing services under one roof, providing shelter and convenience for passengers and operators alike. For passengers, it means more transportation options in one location, while operators gain greater flexibility and opportunities to grow their operations and efficiently do business at RNO.
Keeping Growth Top-of-Mind
Enhanced Safety
Moving rental car services from the parking garage to a centralized GTC will mean less vehicle traffic and less pedestrian foot traffic on the Loop Road.
Sustainable Focus
The GTC is designed with sustainability in mind, featuring energy-efficient car washers that reduce power consumption and environmental impact. Additionally, the facility will include infrastructure to support future transition to electric vehicles, including charging stations. The project developer, Conrac Solutions, is a leader in sustainable infrastructure, bringing their expertise to ensure the GTC meets or exceeds standards.
Parking Expansion
As rental car operations shift to the new GTC facility, the space they currently use in the parking garage will be vacated, allowing the airport to reclaim upwards of 600 parking spaces, conveniently located just steps from the terminal.
