RENO, Nev. (March 28, 2024) – The Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO) is proud to announce the installation of a captivating new art exhibition titled “Find Your Folklife” in the depARTures Gallery. Curated by the Nevada Arts Council, the exhibit explores the rich tapestry of cultural identity among Nevadans in the 21st century, now on display through May 1.

The unique feature of this exhibition lies in its use of “lenticular two-flip” panels, where each photograph pair transitions seamlessly as viewers move past them, creating a thought-provoking visual experience. These panels, produced by renowned innovator Tom Saville, utilize a special technique that allows the images to transition fluidly, offering viewers a glimpse into the multifaceted nature of cultural identity.

“Find Your Folklife” delves into the essence of who we are as individuals and communities throughout Nevada, emphasizing the diversity and interconnectedness of our cultural heritage. The photographs featured were meticulously captured over three years by Nevada Arts Council folklorist Rebecca Snetselaar, showcasing twenty-two individuals in both their ceremonial cultural attire and their everyday lives. Accompanying each image pair is a statement in the model’s own words.

The “Find Your Folklife” exhibition invites travelers to engage with the vibrant cultural landscape of Nevada, celebrating the diverse traditions, beliefs, and values that shape our collective identity.

Downloadable video, photos, and produced footage of the exhibition can be found here.
